A corner of the main courtyard at the Medersa. Most Islamic architecture is internally focussed and the outside of buildings are plain and wall-like, hiding what is inside. Inside, there are usually courtyards (riads), like this one, where light, water and beautiful geometric design all play an important role in showing the glory of god. They are also just nice places to be, esp in hot weather.
