View across Dubrovnik fromthe city walls. Something like 65% of roofs in Dubrovnik were destroyed during the 1991-92 shelling of the city by the Yugoslavian Serbs. The roofs in this city have been carefully restored since then using traditional methods and specially sourced tiles, with the help of UNESCO. When compared to the destruction that was still evident in poorer rual areas, this shows how significant the wealth brought by tourism to Dubrovnik is. Posted by Hello
